So Long Summer - Hello Savings
posted Thursday, September 24 2009 - 10:41 AM

So Long Summer, Hello Savings!

Summer's ended, Fall's setting in and Go! Comi had decided to clean out its closets to make room for the it'll-be-here-before-anyone's-ready-for-it holiday season (which, it seems, starts before Halloween nowadays)!

This is REALLY AWESOME NEWS for anyone who's looking for a GREAT BIG SALE ON MANGA -- wooohooo! We've got several deals going on right now; scroll down to see them all!

ON SALE NOW:

$: Ultimate Venus 5! With the imminent arrival of Ultimate Venus 5 in stores, we've decided to celebrate by adding the Vols. 1-5 Ultimate Venus Bundle to the Go! Store! Get the first five volumes of Takako Shigematu's latest series for the price of less than three volumes! And keep checking back, because over the next few weeks, we'll be pimping the newest volumes of other on-going series, including CROWN and 07-GHOST! Squee!

$: First Volume Love-Fest! Go look at the price for volumes 1 & 2 of series you haven't read yet -- ohmigosh, most of them are on sale! Yay! (This is our nefarious plan to get you hooked on new series, oh ho ho ho!)

$: Series Bundle Sale! A funny thing happens in bookstores several months after a manga series reaches completion -- the bookstores run out of copies and rarely order more, which pretty much unofficially "retires" the whole series! (Eep!) We know a lot of readers haven't finished buying the series they love when this happens, and that a lot of libraries/schools need to replace old copies of popular series, so we're offering extremely low bundle prices on all of our hard-to-find completed series!

COMING SOON:

$: OMG Tankobaaaan! If you read Japanese or if you just want to get your hands on the original "Made in Japan" versions of your favorite manga series, check out our brand-new tankobon section! It has both single volumes for sale and bundles. Supplies are limited, so if you really, really want to glomp these, buy them now! [COMING SOON!]

$: OMG Booooooooks! We figure Fall is the best time to expand our store, what with lots of you needing more escapes than ever at this time of year -- from the heat or rain keeping you in the house, from school work, from vacation withdrawal. So we're adding a handful of Fantasy, YA, and other books to our store that we think might interest manga fans. We'll add more as time goes by, changing our inventory to suit the tastes of our customers. If you have suggestions for non-manga books you'd like to see us stock, you can always post them in our forums! [COMING SOON!]

Guest Blog: Wendy Pini's Masque Movie News
posted Friday, February 06 2009 - 09:06 PM

Dearest Masquers,

January was, for me, an intense month of super-concentrated work. It was also, thank goodness, wonderful fun. Best of all, our movie agent is pleased with how everything turned out. Now it's all up to him and the fickle finger of Hollywood fate.

As February dawns, I'm once again focusing on pages for Masque Volume Two. Can you guess what that means? Yep! The web comic is coming back - this time, I hope, for a long, long spell. Starting next Friday look for chapter five, episode nine.

I'll share with you that this is the first time I've done a major rewrite on an episode. Episode eight left us hanging with Steffan's justifiably shocked reaction. And I bet some of you were expecting the story to pick up right from there. Well, so was I.

But when I looked at the script, after those few weeks away from it, I realized there was an even better way to move the story along, starting - WTF?! - five days later! I'll be very excited to see your reactions.

Meanwhile, here are a couple more teasers that went into the Masque movie portfolio. Well...one complete painting and a BIT of another one (which we simply don't dare show the whole of! ). Have fun guessing and look for the web comic's return next week!

Much love,

Madame Masque

Hello Masquers!

Busy busy days for Richard and me this past couple of weeks. Lots of progress made on the various projects I wrote about in my last post.

Here, as I said would very likely happen, is the first of the new Masque paintings for your enjoyment and possible chills. It is a concept painting, which means the art is rougher than would appear in the graphic novel. But, as you see, the emphasis is on horror in the spirit of Edgar Allan Poe - who, by the way, is having a massive bicentennial birthday celebration in Baltimore the last week of January (and boy, do I ever wish I were able go!).

As for the painting, I leave you to wonder what has happened at what part of the story and why. Just remember, things aren't always what they seem! There will be more to show next week, but perhaps in "excerpts" as some of the paintings, in their totality, give too much of the story away.

By the way, if you are a Poe fan as well as a Poe-tribute Masque fan and are within traveling distance, they still have tickets available for his bicentennial birthday fete which includes, I hear, a fully tricked-out funeral procession through the streets of Baltimore. Go here for all the delightfully  gory details:

Love to all,

Madame Masque
