Lately I've been trying to expand my reading beyond manga (which has been the bulk of my comic experience for years) and experiment with other artists and styles.

I was wondering if anyone here had any suggestions as to some good graphic novel reading material.

I've read most of Neil Gaiman's Sandman as well as the graphic novel version of his book Coraline (which is excellent). I've read most of Jeff Smith Bone series and have started Colleen Doran's A Distant Soil. And, of course, I'm already a big fan of Elfquest. What else should I be reading?

You should read Castle Waiting!  It's a 400-500 page graphic novel about a woman who comes to a place called castle waiting.  It's very funny.  I forgot who it's by though. Sorry

Persepolis  (Be prepared to cry, though.)

American Born Chinese

Zorro:  The Complete Classic Adventures  (It's as fun as the Disney television series was.)

The Arrival (Which has almost no text in it.)

Pixie (Which is French, but I believe it's being brought over to the U.S.)

Ghost World  (Have you seen the movie?)

The Dreaming (Tokypop put it under manga, but it isn't meant to be.)

Sorcerers & Secretaries (Same thing as The Dreaming.)

For web comics, try:

The Dreamland Chronicles

Resalan's King Me! (She's a member of this site.  Hi Resa!)

Penny Arcade

Thanks Kirbyboy, AudryT. I've looked looked up the titles you've suggested and they all look very good. I'll have to go check out my local comic store tomorrow.
