I would love for you guys to pick up Bitter Virgin, but that'd probably be a Viz Media dibs.

Whew, slowly I went through my list. I had to be careful and not put any Viz Media type picks, or TokyoPop, or Del Rey, or Aurora. I think I put up some good picks, but a lot of them don't have summaries so I was basing it off of the general art on the cover. They seemed to fit the "look" of a go!comi licensed manga. Well here's to hoping that some of my suggestions are considered.

Oh btw, thank you so much for all the mangas you do bring to us here in the States, I can't tell you how much I really apperciate it. I love reading manga, and to be able to hold a licensed manga in my hand is one sure thing that makes me smile. Keep up the good work. ^_^

Thank you!  And thanks for all those wonderful suggestions.  :-)  I have a bunch of those tankobon in my personal collection.  You have good taste!

Some of the steamier titles on your list (some of them are josei for older women) probably won't be licensed in the U.S. because that genre (steamy josei) does not do too well in bookstores here.   We have one josei title out right now -- King of Lamp -- so it's not out of the question for us, but we have to handle that genre with caution.  All the same, I will make sure that your suggestions are on our "to be investigated" list, if they aren't already.

This title would most likely be brought out by Viz, as it was released by the Japanese company who owns Viz.  I recommend asking them about it.  (Sorry we can't license it for you!)

Nice guess, but not true!  (I understand why you think that, though.)

You can suggest titles from any publisher; it is just that the likelihood of our getting titles from the companies associated with Viz is much slimmer, because it makes more sense for them to license to Viz.  (Those companies would be Shueisha and Shogakukan.)

Currently, you're most likely to see Square Enix titles published by Yen Press, because they have recently developed a strong relationship.

Del Rey tends to publish Kodansha titles because those two companies have a long history together.

But that doesn't permanently eliminate any of those publishers from our licensing list.  It just makes them a much bigger challenge to go after. ;-)

As for the dozens of other Japanese manga publishers, we're interested in all of them.  If you look at the series we currently have running, you'll find books from publishers as diverse as Media Works, Media Factory, Akita Shoten, Ichijinsha, and Enterbrain. We have other series from other publishers that are also on the way, but I can't talk about them because they haven't been announced.

There's always more going on "behind the magic curtain" than fans get to see.    You never know who knows who in this business, who does business with who, or what great plans are being developed in secret even as you read this post.

CMX is publishing this series.  They have... 6? volumes out now, so you can read a majority of the series right now.

You need to liscense:

 めぐる架空亭 By Nari Kusakawa!

I have no clue what that means, but It's by Nari Kusakawa, who made the three BEST series EVER!  She's a master storyteller!  Maaaaaaybe not the best artist, but her art is unique and you have to admire that.

She has the most fun, compelling stories!  They go at their own pace, and you go into a happy stupor reading her stories.  She always manages to get a chuckle out of you, and she can also tug your heartstrings.  Her characters are always unique, so you can't be told that she has a cliche character.

It's from Hakusensha, but CMX liscenses stuff from them, so why not you guys too? (Since it's a viz company)

Hakusensha is awesome.  Tho' they have a relationship with Viz, they're not exclusive, so licensing from them is definitely a possibility!    Thanks for the suggestion!

You're welcome!   Do you have any clue what that title means?  'Cuz I really would like to know so I can refer to it as something other than "That nari Kusakawa Book that I don't know the title of"...

 I have another reccomendation!

Sailor Moon!  By Naoko Takeuchi

I think, by now, y'all know the story and how much money the liscense would garner the company who liscenses it.  Because it's awesome.

But that wasn't all:

Candy Candy! By Kyoko Mizuki and Yumiko Igarashi

Candy candy is the dramatic story of Candy.  And it's adorable.  That's why.  And it's a so-called 'classic' of shojo.
