These rules apply to every forum and sub-forum on
gocomi.com.
Rules
Breaking the rules may mean deletion of your post and/or deletion of your
Membership.
- No flaming
If someone breaks a rule, report them to us and let us handle the
situation. We all have our off
days; try not to let that affect how you treat others in a public forum. - No spamming
Make sure the threads you post have a clear purpose. Do not use the forums for advertising or
promotion of products or services. - Report abuse
Report abuse by contacting an Administrator or Moderator. Please use a link to direct us to the
abuse and give any details you might have pertaining to the situation. - Respect your fellow
members
All Members are of equal status in the eyes of Go! Comi. Being a Moderator or assisting a Go!
Comi representative does not give one permission to abuse or disrespect
other members. Newcomers should be
treated with the same level of respect as long-time Members. - Avatar
Keep your avatar image between 100 x 100 and 120 x 120 pixels in
size. Do not use pornographic
images or you may have your profile suspended or deleted. - Go! Comi will remove any
avatars, images, posts, and user-generated content we consider to be too
sexually graphic, illegal, or of a deeply offensive nature. - Keep the Forums Work Safe
and Teen-Friendly
While we are not specifically oriented toward children under 12, we do
have young visitors. We also have
individuals who may visit while at work.
Please keep the environment at a PG-13 level, with images,
subjects, and posts appropriate for a public space. - Pimping your own site
If Go! Comi does not provide a specific sub forum or area designated for
promoting the kind of site or service you wish to share, please ask an
Admin or Moderator for permission before posting. Otherwise, self-promotion may be
considered spam and deleted. - Sharing illegal files may
get you BANNED
DO NOT POST OR OTHERWISE SHARE requests, links, images or sites for
illegally obtained manga, comics, games, software, music or other
copyrighted material. Links to and discussion of freeware and shareware
are fine so far as they do not involve spyware, malware, or are used for
illegal activity. - Beware the flood
Don't start more than one or two posts at a time. Flooding will be monitored; those who
drown innocent chibis and small furry animals with too much posting may be
thrown off the ark. But seriously,
remember the forum is there to share, not to monopolize. - Racial Slurs
Offensive racial slurs may be deleted and repeated racial insults may lead
to banning. - Keep personal issues
private
When you have personal issues with another user, contact them privately
and work out your problems somewhere other than a public forum. You know how it is standing in line
while the couple in front of you argues about the intimate details of
their lives. Erk... - Don't Repost Deleted
Threads
Or post about posting about deleted threads. If you are unclear about why your thread
went away, contact a Moderator privately to find out more. - Wars are
niiice.....noooooot
Do not start, participate in, or support forum wars. War mongerers, war chiefs, war generals,
and war in general will be banned from our lovely utopian society. Unless, of course, that is the theme of
a role play thread you're starting... - Multiple Threads, Same
Topic
This is really only an issue if it's driving everyone crazy. Like having every other thread in every
forum be, "Hi! I'm new
here!" - Dealing with a Moderator
Even Mods know how to misbehave. If
you have a problem with a Moderator's behavior, please discuss the issue
with the Mod privately first. If
you feel that does not adequately resolve the issue, then approach another
Mod with a formal complaint. Make
sure you detail your concerns and give examples of any objectionable or
abusive behavior. Be
respectful. Remember that Mods deal
with spammers, n00bs, and technical headaches all day long, and this
sometimes leads to errors or miscommunications. (Just image being on the other end of a
customer service number -- only you're not getting paid!)
Guidelines
The following guidelines are for surviving the wilds of forum posting. They're not rules, but they show respect and
understanding towards your fellow posters.
- Look Around
Before you plunge in to a forum, read some of the posts to get a feel for
how that forum works. Forums tend
to have "personalities" that grow out of the behavior of their
regular visitors and the stated theme of the forum or sub forum. - Remember your extra skin
Folks will disagree with you. Forums
require a pretty thick skin to get along in. Remember that they're missing so many
subtleties in a post that they may misconstrue a meaning that would be
clear if they could only see your eyes, notice your posture, hear the tone
of your voice. Likewise, you may
misunderstand them if you do not clarify hazy points before jumping to
conclusions. - Be Naive
A forum is a great place to learn about how everyone else in the world
thinks, and learn things you never knew before. Keep an open mind; no matter how
knowledgeable you are on a topic, there may be someone out there who knows
as much or more than you do. - Design to be read
If you use the WYSIWYG to decorate your text, make sure that the final
product is still legible. Most
eyeballs can't read hot pink for more than a second, so if you want people
to stick around for an entire post, design to be read. - What are you talking
about?
Subjects lines are your "teaser" -- they're what get people to
open your post. If your subject is
too general ("a question" or "want to know") people
may skim right by a post that would normally interest them. Include something about the theme or
thought behind your post. (Example: "A question about mochi"
rather than just "a question.") - Proofread
Even briliant publishng companeis like areselves mak mistaks. Read three times before you post. If you're feeling passionate about the
subject, go get some tea or read a manga and then come back to your post
so that you can write it with a clear head. You want to be understood; your chances
of being understood are much higher if people recognize what words you're
using, and if you use those words in a calm and thoughtful manner. - Best / worst / favorite Threads
Are Awesome
Some places aren't into all this stuff, but being fans ourselves, we love
it. Talk about your favorites, the
best of this or the crappiest of that.
The thing that matters is that you respect the other posters when
they disagree with you. We don't
all have the same tastes; if we didn't, we'd probably get bored of the
human race. - Don't Quote Entire Posts
If you want others to get past those posts to read your reply, that is. - Don't Double Post
Isn't it annoying when someone repeats themselves? Isn't it annoying when someone repeats
themselves? Obnoxious little
brothers are obviously exempt from this guideline. - Isn't it annoying when
someone repeats themselves? - Cursing.
Well, darnit, we do have kidumms coming here, but dangit we're also a
publisher of teen, older teen, and some mature content. This place is not clean enough for a
five year old without parental supervision. If you are profanity-shy, there may be
posts here that make you uncomfortable.
If you are a profanity-fiend, keep it at a PG-13 level. Use the internal "curse meter"
most likely supplied to you by your annoying parents. When in doubt, ask a Mod.
Yes: Damn, Hell, Bastard, Pissed, Bull??? and
other mid-level language
No: F-(bleeep), C-(bleep)-t, D-(blip)-k,
C-(bleeeeeeep)-k, and other staples of the porn industry; save those for
cybering somewhere else ("get a room, man")
