You're paintings are absolutely GORGEOUS. I wish I could paint even half as well (or at all )

Here's my critique. Take it or leave it.

Your drawings, particularly your figure drawings, need much more work and practice. You're definitely on your way though.

I would suggest that you get some books out on anatomy drawing or (even better) see if there are any programs in your area that allow you to participate in some model drawing. Usually art galleries or art centers will have something. It really helps to improve  those sketching skills!

Thank you so much for the comment :D

Actually I don't take figure drawing sooo seriously... shame on me  I really wish I had more time for it though... plus I'm a very lazy "work through how to do books" person... I have some of those books, but I don't feel working myself through them. It kills my "fun" to draw somehow... same goes for art-classes... I wish I would be a better student, but I am not...

might be a mistake, I know, but that's the way I am and this was one of the main reasons, why I did not study art

Anyway, thanks for stopping by and I'm happy you love my landscapes ^____^

*laughs* I'm like that with painting. I'd love to paint better but I'm too lzy to do the work!

I personally do not like 'how-to' books for the same reason. Totally kills my creativity. I'll usually get out reference books or works from another artist and study those.

My two anatomy books are basically just full of images with people in different positions. I had one out of the library once that explained in depth why the muscles, etc looked differently depending on the stance and position. It was pretty neato. I wish I could remember the title to get it out again. *sigh* But I have a horrible memory.

How or when did you start painting? Have you been painting for a while?

I'm really glad you understand how I feel

You know I was thraumatized with several art-teacher and art-classes in school. One guy hated me so much, he used to give me a lot of bad marks and always told me I had no talent at all. Back then I lacked of a lot self-comfidence, so I did not draw or paint for many, many years...

I actually started again when I was 17 and it looked very  just very, very secretly for me, because it was the best way to relax for me. Later I published some drawings in German Sci-Fi fandom and I was surprised, although I really wasn't very good back then, I recieved some nice feedback.

Illustrating in black and white though was loads of fun, but I always wanted to do colorful landscapes. I tried aquarell first, but it ended in a completely disaster

Then I went for oilcolors, when I was 20-21 and found them so much easier to handle. Later I tried other media and also sold some of my paintings at exhibitions. But I had to take a break when I was 26- almost 33 because first was my studies, then I got married and then my kids were still too small.

During that time I did improve my figurework and black-white comic and illustrationstuff a little. O.k as you say, it still needs improvement, but duing that years I did gladly some progress. It might be slower without books, but I'm hopefully on my way

Now my kids are older and I'm back to my landscapes...

What about you? When did you start drawing and working on your artistic career? I hope I can see some more of your art soon? Do you have a deviant account as well?

Here is some more stuff... right now I repaint some old paintings. It's really fun

I hoping to have some work up in the next couple months. I need to build my portfolio so that'll be my goal this summer.

I have a few things, but I need to scan them in. I have a scanner, I just need to get around to installing it on my computer. It'll be a hassle since I've lost the disc :P

I love your landscapes. They're so interesting.  Almost like a fantasy landscape. They feel like they have a story inside of them.

I've always drawn. One of my earliest memories is my brother complaining to my mom that I wouldn't play with him because I draw too much. :P

I didn't become series about my drawing until I was about 12. It wasn't until I started college that I actually had got some professional training (that was two years ago). So most of my good work is from school.

I'm still a bit self-conscious about my work. I think I'm at the point were I can start showing it though.

*sigh* I envy you, because you always were able to draw... and it would be wonderful to see your art as well...

My DA account is:

http://martoo1973.deviantart.com/

I'm still very new there, but it is so much fun, because so many nice people are there and I also met some good old friends form my time as illustrator in German fandom again (also one of those kind sould, who encouraged me to draw again).

Would be great to see you there as well.

Thanks for the nice words about my landscapes again... the one with the green sky is part of my storyuniverse and comic called "Shadowpath", I started 12 years ago... through "Shadowpath" I learned painfully how hard it is to draw comic, but I'm glad I drew it, because I learned soooo much from it  and I still do, as I work on the remake now once in a while... (but only just for fun)

The other landscape has no special story (at least non I'm aware of yet), but I always loved to invent landscapes, which can not be seen in reality.

EDIT: Oh, my you ARE already on DA !!!

Thanks for the watch, I'll watch you back and check out your gallery ASAP
